Here is an interesting article about Google Health that notes that it is not covered by HIPAA. Presumably the competing services are not covered either, so perhaps there never should have been any expectation on the part of their customers that it was.
Still, a full disclosure on Google’s part should have made a note of that. It doesn’t appear to. It does note that some of their partners may not be covered by HIPAA which could be read to imply that Google Health is. Caveat Emptor.
